OUR STORY
2020 was dubbed the year “20plenty” – and that it certainly was, but not in the way we could ever have imagined when the year began.
Hello. I am Tracey, founder and owner of Trace Embrace. I am a mother, a wife, a teacher, a student, a musician, an advocate for inclusive education, and most recently, a new business owner! I am a creative at heart. After all gigs and live performances were cancelled due to the Coronavirus pandemic, I needed another outlet to exercise my creativity. I realised that being creative was one of the ways in which I grounded myself, how I managed my stress and anxiety, and how I expressed myself. It is very much a part of who “Tracey” is.
I took to crafting, gardening and creating sensory and educational play resources when the national lockdown saw us having to stay home and juggle between working from home and homeschooling. Being on lockdown was a blessing in disguise, because it forced us to stop. We were forced to make do with what we had and make toys, creative fun activities and use household items to provide opportunities for education, entertainment and stimulation.
After seeing pictures of my creations, my mother suggested that I sell the items. I didn’t give it much thought at first – because that would be crazy right?! Her suggestion sat dormant in my thoughts, and after a couple of weeks I decided to put on my mask and embark on this “crazy” journey. Needless to say, if you told me in June 2020 that I would be starting my own business and creating my own business website in September 2020, I would have giggled at that very far-fetched idea!
Deciding to start the business was the easy part. Choosing a business name – now THAT was very hard! I chose TRACE EMBRACE and a multi-coloured hummingbird logo for its powerful significance and symbolism. Family is important to me, and I wanted to honour them in this way. I am who and what I am today because of my family.
WHAT WE DO
Trace Embrace is a brand aimed at providing its client base with an extensive range of handcrafted products for children and adults. In doing so, we also aim to support, partner with, promote and create employment opportunities for other small businesses and start up companies. We want to impact society in a positive and meaningful way. (Or at least education!) We have only just embarked on this journey and we are finding our feet, but one thing is certain, we WILL be making a positive difference to our society…
